Sweet shakkarpara / shankarpoli

Shakkarpara is a sweet evening tea time delicacy, which is made easily with very few ingredients.

Number of servings - 2 bowls

Ingredients

Maida - 1 cup
Powdered sugar - 1 cup
Melted butter/ ghee/ oil - for dough and frying

Steps to prepare

1. Take maida and powdered sugar in a bowl.
2. Add oil or butter slowly so much that the dough becomes crumbly in between your palms.
3. Add water little by little to form a smooth dough and rest it for 15 to 20 mins.
4. Divide the dough equally and make balls of it, roll each ball evenly.
5. Cut the rolled dough in any desired shape, preferably diamond.
6. In medium hot oil, add each piece and fry until it's golden brown on both sides.
7. Rest it for 15 mins before serving.

Tips

1. Wheat flour can be used instead of maida.
2. Don't use dalda as best results can be achieved with butter or ghee or even oil.
