Jeera Rice

This dish needs no introduction. A very satisfying rice dish which can be eaten after a round of heavy starters or after a long tiring day. Simple to prepare and easy to digest, it can be accompanied with dal like dal tadka, dal fry, etc. Can very well qualify as a bachelor dish :P
I will include a simplest way to prepare dal along with jeera rice in "Tips" below.

Servings - 2
Preparation Time - 5 mins
Cooking Time - 15 mins

Ingredients

Rice - 1 cup
Cumin seeds/ Jeera - 1 tbsp
Cloves/ Laung - 3 to 4 (optional)
Cinnamon/ Dalchini - 1/2 inch (optional)
Green chilli - 1
Oil/ Ghee - 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves - 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Steps for preparation

1. Wash and cook rice separately and keep it aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan, add green chilli, jeera, laung and dalchini. Wait until they turn slightly brown.
3. Add the cooked rice into it and salt, mix well until oil spreads through the rice.
4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve it with dal and love. :)

Tips

1. You can use basmati rice instead of normal rice.
2. You can choose to add onions while tempering.
3. Like I promised, easy recipe of dal here -
Add 1 tsp of oil in a cooker, add a green or red chilli, cumin seeds and mustard. When mustard splutters, add washed 1/2 cup of moong dal or toor dal, with 1 cup of water. Add salt and close the lid of cooker. Wait for 3 or 4 whistles and your dal is ready.
