Besan Laddoo

Laddoos are everyone's favourite, especially besan laddoo. It is one of the simplest and quickest sweet recipes to prepare during any festival. The only thing which takes little time in the recipe is to make balls. But when you eat it, it just melts in the mouth. :)

Servings - approx. 15 laddos (lemon sized)
Preparation time - 15 mins
Cooking time - 5 mins

Ingredients

Besan - 1 cup
Rava - 1 tbsp (thin rava)
Powdered sugar - 1 cup
Ghee - 1/2 cup
Almonds, optional

Steps for preparation

1. Add besan and rava to pan. After frying for a minute, add ghee in 2 or 3 installments and continue to fry. The mixture should be like a paste. Not too watery or not too dry. Just imagine how hard or soft the laddoo will become after adding sugar and accordingly set the consistency. Don't worry, you can add a little less if you are doubtful and you can add the rest in the last step too.
2. Keep frying until besan turns brown and switch off the stove.
3. Allow besan to cool well and then add powdered sugar to it. Now you can make balls of any size. If you feel the laddoo is dry, you can add melted ghee at this stage also.
4. You can place cut cashews or almonds on the laddoo for garnishing.

Tips

1. Sugar has to be powdered and then measured.
2. The amount of powdered sugar can be decreased based on your taste. When I prepare, I add a tad lesser than 1 cup.
